We have it on good authority that Social Commerce Startup StuffBuff will be opening an office in San Francisco.  Details are sketchy right now and hard to come buy  but it seems that it may be a sales office. Currently they are headquartered in NYC at the Time Warner Center.

San Francisco is near the eBay headquarters so perhaps they are aiming to start peeling off talent. We have frequently viewed StuffBuff as one of the stronger eBay Alternatives that we have covered in this blog.

We have an email to StuffBuff to confirm this story but have yet to receive a response.

Does it suck to be an Amazon Merchant?

by admin on August 20, 2010

I recently had the pleasure of speaking to one of the larger sellers of electronics on both eBay and Amazon and it was a most interesting interview. He told me that while Amazon drives sales up for them and with less hassle than eBay, in many ways eBay was the better alternative. Why? Because whenever he has a great selling item Amazon sources the item themselves and undersells him. After all they are not paying any fees. It is Amazing to be that they are able to hold on to their merchants with this model in place. Perhaps we should rename this blog “The Best Amazon Alternatives”.

I asked him what his future outlook was and what he was considering. He said he was looking at site like open sky and some of the live auction sites like StuffBuff.

I will follow with a part two post of my conversation with this company and some of their insights.

I flew home from Las Vegas last week and as I am prone to do when left alone with my own thoughts for 6 hours, I started thinking.  It occurred to me at 30,000 feet as I watched satellite tv while listening to my itouch and working on my ipad and surfing using the [...]

With an average 500,000 uniques a month RubyLane has a respectable following by any standard. Though far from a behemoth it seems to appeal to a niche audience in the online marketplace space. Ruby focuses on independent merchants showcasing quality Antiques & Art, Vintage Collectibles and Jewelry items from around the world.
Though not a [...]
